Have you visited the National Library of Wales’ digiDo catalogue ? Here, you will find hundreds of photographs. This resource enables you to either browse through pages as a photo stream, or select individual sets; such as specific events or themes.
Here you can find a selection of photographs by various photographers, such as Geoff Charles (1909-2002), John Thomas (1838-1905) and P.B. Abery (1877-1948).
The Geoff Charles photographic collection is the largest individual collection in the Library, and his contribution to Welsh photography is unique. He captured nearly all aspects of life in Wales from the 1930s to the 1970s.
John Thomas is one of the best known of the Welsh Victorian photographers. He travelled throughout Wales and took photographs of ordinary people; often at their place of work, and also views showing life in Welsh towns and villages from the 1860s to the 1890s.
P. B. Abery took photographs of views and rural life around Breconshire, Radnorshire and the Border Counties. Also, when the Birmingham Water Works began construction work on the Elan Valley dams, he was appointed the official photographer for the project.
On digiDo catalogue, you are also able to browse through various selected themes; such as Abbeys, Castles and Palaces to Rivers, Mountains, Landscapes and Social Life.
